ARRAIGNMENT UPDATE: MAN CHARGED WITH VEHICULAR HOMICIDE AND DWI IN CRASH THAT KILLED MOTHER AND DAUGHTER AND INJURED HIS PASSENGERS ARRAIGNED IN HOSPITAL

Defendant Tyrone Absolam, 41, of 133rd Avenue in Jamaica, Queens, had a bedside arraignment today before Queens Criminal Court Judge Jerry Iannece. The defendant is charged in a criminal complaint with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter in the first degree, two counts of manslaughter in the second degree, vehicular assault in the first degree, two counts of vehicular manslaughter in the second degree, two counts of vehicular assault in the second degree, two counts of criminally negligent homicide, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and reckless driving.

Judge Iannece set the defendant’s return date for July 30, 2021. If convicted, Absolam faces up to 25 years in prison. The previous press release on this case can be viewed here.
