CHIEF ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY

Chief Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Naiburg has been a prosecutor since 1993. Prior to DA Katz’ administration, Ms. Naiburg served the Office in many capacities: as an accomplished trial lawyer, teacher, manager, and innovator.

Since DA Katz took office in January of 2020, Ms. Naiburg has worked tirelessly to fulfill the District Attorney’s mission of Brave Justice – keeping the communities of Queens safe, while helping to implement fairness and equity within the criminal justice system.

Ms. Naiburg has diligently executed the DA’s priorities in reimaging the administration of justice in Queens County. She has overseen the restructure and the creation of new bureaus and implemented new divisions, programs, and policies within the office.

Ms. Naiburg ushered the office through the unprecedented COVID pandemic – and continues to lead legal operations every day, while working closely with the District Attorney to tackle challenges within our criminal justice system.

Before being appointed Chief Assistant, Ms. Naiburg primarily devoted her time and talents as either a trial attorney or a manager in several trial bureaus including Supreme Court trial bureaus, the Career Criminal Major Crimes Bureau, and the Homicide Trials Bureau. Ms. Naiburg has personally tried some of Queens County’s most serious crimes including murder, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, felony assault and A-1 narcotics cases.

For many years, in addition to managing trial bureaus, Ms. Naiburg also served as Deputy Director of Trial Advocacy. In her training position Ms. Naiburg oversaw and acted as faculty for many in-house training programs and also regularly conducted training programs for outside agencies, including the NYPD, the PAPD, NYC Fire Marshals and the Rockland County PD.

In addition to her leadership of DA Katz’s executive team, Ms. Naiburg serves as an Adjunct Professor at Cardozo Law School after having taught at Fordham Law School for the 10 preceding years.
