The Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), allows the public to request records possessed and maintained by the Queens County District Attorney’s Office. The release of records is governed by Article 6 of the Public Officers Law and the Queens County District Attorney’s office may deny access to records or portions thereof in accordance with FOIL or another state or federal statute. See Pub. Off. Law § 87(2).

FOIL requests can be submitted in writing to the Records Access Officer by mail or email to:

When submitting a request for records, please state the records you seek with specificity and, if the request seeks records related to a specific prosecution, include the defendant’s name and the arrest, docket, or indictment number.

Once the requested records are located and processed, you will be sent a written determination setting forth which records can be disclosed, the records that are not disclosable along with the appropriate law that permits the non-disclosure, and instructions on how to obtain the records by mail, including sending payment for the reproduction of the records. After your payment is received, the records are reviewed for appropriate redactions and will be mailed to you at the address provided. The records also can be made available for inspection and review by appointment only during regular business hours M-F, except City holidays, at the FOIL Unit office located at:
