ANNUAL SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR "NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME"

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced today that the Annual "National Night Out Against Crime" will be observed tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 4th with a full schedule of events ranging from cookouts to concerts and crime prevention lectures to youth activities.

District Attorney Brown said that the "National Night Out Against Crime has been embraced by the residents of Queens County as an occasion when they can get out and meet the police officers and law enforcement officials who work in their neighborhoods and are largely responsible for the sharp reduction in violent crime and the significant improvement in the quality of life. They can talk about the serious aspects of combating crime in their communities, and enjoy a variety of fun activities featuring music, food and games."

Executive Assistant District Attorney Jesse J. Sligh, Assistant District Attorney Frederica Jeffries and other representatives of the District Attorney's office will attend the following events:

The 104th Precinct will offer an assortment of activities from 5 P.M. through 9 P.M. including crime prevention programs, a Community Policing Unit, fingerprinting, V.I.N. etching, the Drug

Buster Program, Block Watcher Program, Combat Auto Theft Program (C.A.T.), as well as music, dancers, and face painters.

The 108th Precinct is sponsoring music, games and a poster contest, as well as C.A.T. and V.I.N etching at the Thompson Hill Park, located at Greenpoint Avenue and 42nd Street, and will be distributing information from Crime Prevention Officers, Blockwatchers and Drugbusters from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M.

The 109th Precinct will offer activities from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Weeping Beech Park, located at Bowne St. and 37th Avenue in Flushing, where police units including the highway unit, the mounted patrol, a K-9 unit, the police bicycle unit, the fire and safety unit and the C.A.T. program will be distributing information and performing demonstrations. There will also be crime prevention materials and Precinct Council information distributed.

The 110th Precinct and Community Board 4 are working together to sponsor activities from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M. at the Frank D. O'Connor Playground at 78th Street and Broadway. Crime prevention officers will be there offering vehicle and bike registrations and Elmhurst Hospital will distribute information on health.

The. 111th Precinct will be holding crime prevention programs including those on auto theft, domestic violence, and burglaries, that will include speakers from the 111th Precinct Community Council. The activities will begin at 7:30 P.M. at P.S. 67, located at 248th Street and 52nd Avenue.

The 112th Precinct Community Council is sponsoring activities at MacDonald Park, located at Queens Blvd. and Yellowstone Blvd, from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M. (if rain: Forest Hills Jewish Center, 106-06 Queens Blvd.) that include displays by the NYPD Crime Prevention Unit, the mounted units, auto crime prevention, the Fire Department, as well as music, dance performances, an art contest, and refreshments.

The 114th Precinct is the host precinct for Patrol Borough Queens North. Its Community Council and the Ravenswood Residents Association are sponsoring an assortment of activities and demonstrations beginning at 5 P.M. at the Variety Boys and Girls Club, located at 21-12 30th Road. Activities include crime prevention lectures, V.I.N. etching, C.A.T. registration; latent print demonstrations and musical performances by local groups. Participants will include N.Y.C. Housing Authority, Jamaica Hospital Center, New York Hospital, Goodwill Industries, Kaufman Astoria Studios, Variety Boys and Girls Club and local community groups. Invited guest speakers include Congressman Thomas Manton, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, State Senator George Onorato, State Assemblyman Dennis Bulter, State Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan, City Council Speaker Peter Vallone and City Councilman Walter McCaffrey.

The 115th Precinct is sponsoring activities at the Northern Blvd. Playground, located at Northern Blvd. between 93rd and 94th Street, from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M. The Commanding Officer and Community Affairs Officers will visit several block associations and meet with residents, and crime prevention information will be distributed. The Jackson Heights Beautification Group will perform and refreshments will be served.

In Patrol Borough Queens South, the 100th Precinct (the host precinct), the 100th Precinct Community Council is sponsoring events from 6:30 P.M. to 10 P.M., beginning with pre-march events at three different sites on the Boardwalk, including Project Kid Care Photo ID Program. These events will start at 5 P.M. at Beach 126th Street on the Boardwalk; Beach 86th Street on the Boardwalk; and at The Beach Club, 129 Beach 116th Street. Other activities, which will take place at the Beach club, include the singing of the "Star Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America" by Mary Flynn, demonstrations performed by Aviation, Canine, EMS, Mounted, Highway, Motorcycle and US Park Police Recruitment Units, as well as the Kid Care Photo I.D. Program, Lojack Demonstration, Conelly Dance Studios dance demonstration, face painting, pony rides, costumed crime fighting characters, disc jockey, truck rides and a grand finale of fireworks presented by Grucci Fireworks. The fireworks will begin at 9 P.M.

The 101st Precinct, the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation (RDRC), Weed and Seed and the New York City Office of the Criminal Justice Coordinator will sponsor activities at Edgemere Park, located at Beach 54th Street and Almeda Avenue 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. Activities will include demonstrations, a poetry reading, and the New York Housing Authority Gospel Choir. Also attending will be a representative from the US Attorney General's Office, Congressman Gregory Meeks, Assemblywoman Pauline Cummings and Councilwoman Juanita Watkins.

The 102nd Precinct, the 102nd Precinct Community Council, Richmond Hill Block Association and the Ozone Park Block Association will sponsor events at Buddy Monument in Forest Park, located on the corner of Park Lane South and Myrtle Avenue. Events will begin at 7 P.M. with a proclamation read by a representative from the Mayor's Office and a candlelight vigil from7 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Continuing through 10 P.M., activities will include speeches by local officials, and demonstrations by the Crime Prevention Unit, emergency service and K-9 units.

In addition, in the 102nd Precinct, Richmond Hill East Business Persons Association (RHEBA) will sponsor activities on Jamaica Avenue between ll2nd and 124th Streets from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M. including presentations by the Fire Department, EMS units, various church groups and Jamaica Hospital representatives as well as food, games, a puppet show for children and crime prevention information.

The 103rd Precinct and 103rd Precinct Community Council will sponsor activities at Rufus King Park, located across from Mary Immaculate Hospital on Jamaica Avenue and 89th Street around the gazebo from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M, including a short awards ceremony
