Statement of Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown With Respect to Apparent Suicide This Morning of Brooklyn Gym Teacher Accused of Engaging in Three-Year Sexual Relationship with Female Student

As a teacher entrusted with the custody, care and education of young students, Mr. Major was accused of crossing the line separating teachers and students by engaging in a sexual relationship with a vulnerable female child. His death this morning only compounds the situation and undoubtedly will have a devastating effect not only upon his alleged victim, but upon all of the students at the school at which he taught.
