DISTRICT ATTORNEY BROWN RECEIVES STATE BAR ASSOCIATION'S OUTSTANDING PROSECUTORS AWARD
Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown was honored today by the Criminal Justice Section of the New York State Bar Association at the Association's Annual meeting in Manhattan.
District Attorney Brown received the Bar Association's 2000 Award for his "Outstanding Contribution to the Delivery of Prosecutorial Services". The award was presented to the District Attorney at a luncheon reception at the Marriott Marquis.
In accepting the award District Attorney Brown said, "I am honored to receive this prestigious award on behalf of the dedicated men and women of the Queens District Attorney's Office who have helped make our office one of the best in the country. We require a lot of our assistants - - strong advocacy skills in the courtroom and strong investigative skills in the streets and precincts of the County. Working together with the New York City Police Department to enhance cases from the outset and thereby increase the likelihood of conviction, our office's assistants have earned a reputation as an aggressive, proactive law enforcement agency."
District Attorney Brown also said, "This award has special meaning for me personally as well. Twelve years ago when I sat in the Appellate Division, the State's second highest court, the State Bar gave me a similar award for contributions to the judicial system. I am very pleased to now again be honored by the members of my profession as a prosecutor."
