TWO ARRESTED IN RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: D.A. BROWN ASSISTS IN ARREST

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown today announced the arrest of two men for the burglary of a private home in Fresh Meadows yesterday. District Attorney Brown and Detective James Draude of the New York City Police Department's District Attorney's Office Squad assisted in the arrests.

The District Attorney identified the defendants as Danny Isaac, 16, of 65-18 172nd St., Fresh Meadows, and David Habibo, 18, of 82-05 Hollis Hills Terrace. Both defendants were arrested and charged with burglary, criminal possession of stolen property and grand larceny for breaking into a house on 77th Road yesterday afternoon and stealing money and jewelry. If convicted they face up to 25 years in prison.

It is charged that the defendants broke into the house through a basement door shortly after the homeowner had left at about 2:20 P.M. They were observed in the house by a neighbor who telephoned police. According to the District Attorney, the defendant Isaac was arrested by a police officer assigned to the 107th Precinct as he left the house carrying a black bag containing a pair of binoculars, watches and jewelry. He also was allegedly carrying a .25 caliber pistol in his pocket. The defendant Habibo fled the scene..

As District Attorney Brown, driven by Detective Draude, was returning to his office from the studios of Queens Public Television in Flushing they heard a transmission over the police radio indicating that the burglary was in progress. District Attorney Brown and Detective Draude went to the scene, which was a few blocks away, observed the defendant Isaac in the custody of the police, learned the description of the defendant Habibo and several minutes later spotted him on 78th Rd. Detective Draude chased the defendant, who allegedly also had proceeds of the burglary in his possession, and placed him under arrest.

Assistant District Attorney Sal Spano of District Attorney Brown's Kew Gardens Trial Bureau II, under the supervision of Assistant District Attorney Daniel M. Sullivan and the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for Trials James Clark Quinn, is assigned to prosecute the case.
