Office Services Assistant

The Office of the Queens County District Attorney is currently seeking an Office Services Assistant to provide a variety of support services including delivery and pick-up of documents, supplies, files, mail, packages and other important and confidential materials between the District Attorney's multiple office locations, as well as to other agencies and locations throughout the five boroughs.

The Office Services Assistant will generally work Monday through Friday from 9 AM — 5 PM, but in certain instances, schedule changes and/or overtime hours may be required in order to complete required tasks.

The Office Services Assistant will perform the following job functions including, but not limited to:

  1. Receiving, reviewing, sorting, bundling and delivering incoming mail and packages.
  2. Identifying locations of delivery recipients using QDA personnel directories, as well as publicly available maps and transportation information for navigating to external delivery sites.
  3. Picking up and delivering internal and external mail and/or packages to QDA locations or to other agencies and offices across the five boroughs while using public transportation or a QDA vehicle.
  4. Delivering mail and packages to the local post office or to other courier services, including UPS and FedEx, while ensuring accuracy and completeness of shipment details and appropriate receipt of required documentation for requesting sender(s).
  5. Appropriately handling confidential and important materials during delivery and adhering to QDA policies, procedures and schedules.
  6. Assisting with the organization, distribution and delivery of office supplies to QDA employees, including storage and moving of boxes, carts, and other bulk/large items.
  7. Performing basic clerical tasks including data entry, answering phones, sending emails, filing, copying and the like, as required.

Qualification Requirement:
High school graduation (or its educational equivalent) or a satisfactory equivalent in work experience required. Must be a self-motivated and responsible individual with the ability to successfully navigate to locations across the five boroughs by vehicle and/or public transportation. The ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. or more and to assist in moving items over 50 lbs. with assistance is required. Must have working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software, good oral communication skills and ability to move between locations and wait for extended periods in varying weather conditions. A valid NYS driver license and clean driving record are required for assignments requiring the operation of a QDA vehicle.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with a valid NYS driver license and clean driving record, familiarity with postal regulations and mailing procedures and/or previous messenger experience.
