Crime Victims Case Manager

The Office of the Queens County District Attorney is currently seeking applicants for a Crime Victims Case Manager to support our Crime Victims Advocate Program (CVAP). The focus of a CVAP Case Manager is to oversee the coordination of care for Crime Victims (CVs) in Queens County and serve as a liaison with the Office of Victim Services (OVS) Vocational Rehabilitation Unit as well as the New York Civil Legal Network.

The CVAP Case Manager will perform the following job functions including but not limited to:

  1. Outreaching to CVs to offer them services through phone calls, home visits, tabling events, and other related methods.
  2. Utilizing motivational interviewing, person-centered, trauma informed, and crisis intervention techniques with crime victims.
  3. Assisting CVs with completing OVS claim applications and following up on the status of pending claims.
  4. Assisting CVs with criminal justice support and advocacy, information and referrals, counseling, and other related services.
  5. Meeting CVís in the community when appropriate.
  6. Serving as a liaison for CVs with a variety of community-based organizations and government agencies for support services including but not limited to: dental, health, mental health, bio-hazardous services, NYCHA housing and VINE.
  7. Participating in support group meetings for CVs and their families.
  8. Serving as the primary liaison with the OVS Vocational Rehabilitation Unit and the New York Civil Legal Network.
  9. Serving as the point of contact for CVís to obtain their property from the property clerkís office. .

Qualification Requirement:
Bachelorís degree in social or behavioral sciences and at least one year experience in crime victim services, crises counseling, and/or criminal justice or equivalent education and/or experience required. Must have a working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software, excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Masterís degree in the areas described above, relevant licensure such as LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, and/or significant experience working with trauma victims. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with the ability to fluently speak and/or write in Spanish, Mandarin and/or Bengali.
