IDENTITY THEFT AND STOLEN CREDIT CARD RING BUSTED. Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown stands with Deputy Economics Chief ADA Christina Hanophy and members of the NYPD Financial Crimes Task Force and its Asset Forfeiture Unit following the takedown of a Queens-based identity theft and stolen credit card ring allegedly responsible for stealing the personal credit information of hundreds of consumers and costing the individuals, financial institutions and retail businesses more than $3.5 million in losses. On the table are gold bars and coins, designer handbags and electronics allegedly bought with the forged credit cards, as well as phony credit cards, weapons and equipment used to make the counterfeit credit cards and other documents.
